ANNETTE Course Structure

ANNETTE COURSE STRUCTURE
ANNETTE Courses have been conceived in order to coordinate and enhance the existing offer for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the nuclear fields.
The project is ambitious, since it is aimed to start a long lasting action, to be continued also after the end of the ANNETTE Project (December 2019), in order to plan for courses well suited for end-user needs and to be adapted to the specific trends in Nuclear Education and Training (E&T), under the aegis of the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN).
The rationale at the basis of the development of courses is depicted in the following figure, highlighting the “vision” of the Project in relation to courses.
As it can be noted, a first kernel of courses has been collected, on the basis of the offer by ANNETTE Participants, made of good new courses and of courses from previous offers by European Fission Training Schemes (EFTSs).
The fields of applicability of the courses are:
- Nuclear Fission Technology and Safety / Security / Safeguards
- Radiation Protection
- Waste Management and Geological Disposal
- “Nuclearisation” of Fusion
Specific attention is assigned to Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC) with specific courses and as a cross-cutting issue to be attentively pointed out in all the courses, whatever their specific subject. In fact, an attitude favourable to nuclear safety culture must be promoted at all the levels in organisations working in the nuclear field.
ANNETTE COURSE PROGRAMME
Most of the courses to be delivered have been already collected, together with their detailed Learning Outcomes. Their complete list and programme is being made public after the next Progress Meeting of ANNETTE, being planned within February 2018.
At the moment, it is anticipated that:
- most of the courses are modular (to be delivered in one or two weeks), in order to favour attendance of professionals or young researchers having limited time each year to devote to their lifelong learning (LLL) process;
- they will be delivered at different course provider locations, to make use of the richness of experience accumulated in Europe in relation to nuclear disciplines;
- some courses will be delivered at least partly by e-learning;
- a few Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are planned, on key subjects (e.g., nuclear safety culture and safeguards);
- the main period for delivering courses will be from June 2018 to June 2019, though some courses offered by the stakeholders of the ANNETTE project will be anticipated and advertised ASAP;
- the pilot courses delivered during the project will be evaluated at the end of the project;
- a Summer School, organised by Aalto University, will be held in Turku, Finland, on 24-30 June 2018; the Summer School will be structured in plenary lectures and three parallel tracks, for Nuclear Safety / Technology (Fusion and Fission), Radiation Protection, Waste Management and Geological Disposal; the latter track will include the traditional PETRUS PhD Event;
- recognition of the LLL process of each learner is planned through certifications released by Course Providers and by the European Nuclear Education Network.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (EoI)
EoI are encouraged since now to communicate interest in the courses by professionals and researchers or by their employers.
EoI are also encouraged by course providers not belonging to the ANNETTE Consortium wishing to deliver their courses under the umbrella of the ANNETTE initiative, during or after the completion of the ANNETTE Project.
In this aim, please contact the Coordinator of ANNETTE at the ENEN Secretariat: secretariat@enen.eu .
